Pairing/Characters: Ianto; Jack; Gwen (if someone else pop in, I'll let you know); Jack/Ianto and there probably will be mentions of Gwen/Rhys
Genre: General so far, but maybe romance eventually? It is after all a Janto fic

Spoiler: Mentions of Children of Earth, but nothing especific, except Ianto's death, but I don't consider it a fix it fic; at least not yet.

Notes: Huge thanks to specialj67 for being my beta. Jackie, you rock!
Ianto waited until man and woman left the morgue to pull out of his hiding place. He gazed around, his mind racing a thousand miles a minute, forming a plan.
His eyes alighted on a computer work station, and he smiled a little. That would be a good place to start. The Welshman stalked over to the computer and took a seat. The desktop was password protected, but it didn’t take Ianto long to crack it. All those hours learning tricks from Tosh had paid off.
He paused, thinking of the Japanese woman, feeling a bit of grief and a lot of remorse. Why was he back alive? Why did HE get a second chance?
Shoving those dark thoughts away, Ianto pulled up a layout of the building; he discovered that the morgue was situated in a lower level and beneath it, an underground parking lot. There were five more floors above him. He located all the exits, a plan crystallizing in his brain. Ianto hacked into the electric system. It took a few minutes because the work station wasn’t really equipped to do what he wanted to, but he managed to trigger the fire alarms.
With a wide grin, he quickly stood up, grabbing a lab coat hanging by the work station. Shrugging it on, he hurried out of the morgue, following the sounds of rushed steps.
Ianto joined the stream of people directing themselves to the front doors. Everyone was soaked to the bone because of the fire sprinklers that were activated along with the fire alarms. They were all confused and frightened, asking in loud tones what was going on while walking.
The security guards tried to check IDs, but panicking crowds made it impossible. Ianto managed to slip outside without a second glance; the lab coat did its job nicely. He drifted around in the crowd until the firefighters arrived, unwilling to risk attracting attention by bolting as soon as he stepped outside.
Once Ianto was outdoors, he realized it was nighttime. He hadn’t known while inside the building; it was all artificial lights and no windows in there. He gazed up at the building in front of him. MacLeod Enterprises. Fitting name considering that someone working there had resurrected him.
Ianto shuddered and hugged himself. He was freezing. The cold night air was a really bad mix with his wet clothes. He would catch his death like that. A second after that thought passed through his mind, he snorted. Dead by a virus, brought back somehow to die again because of another virus. Now that’s what he called irony.
He snapped out of his reverie and glanced at the man standing besides him dressed in a suit. So the building accommodated not only laboratories, but offices too.
“Do you have the time?” Ianto asked politely.
“7:15 p.m.” The other man answered glancing at him. “Crazy this fire alarm, huh? I didn’t see any smoke.”
“Maybe it malfunctioned.” Ianto replied with a shrug. The man nodded, returning his eyes to the building.
He didn’t notice that during their short conversation, Ianto had reached inside his pocket with light fingers and picked his cell phone. A well-practiced move Ianto perfected during his teenage years.
Ianto shoved the mobile in his own pocket discreetly and waited a couple of heartbeats before moving away quickly, but quietly.
